Day 15


Day 15, the last day, we were left compositing the render took most of day 14. Throughout this studio project  , I have learnt that not all system in Maya are perfectly build, one example is the shatter tool. Because of that we had wasted a lot time trying to solve problems. It is always good to keep in touch with other software as another alternatives to create the simulation.

Day 14


Day 14, since I have done my texturing, i help did the lighting for shot 9 and also helped Akid and Edmund with the perspective and supervised on the color grading and looks of the smoke. I searched for royalty free sound effect and also done voice record for the celebrating scene.

Day 13


Day 13, even after the reapplying of texture the size of the UV is not correct. I tried to research for help in the internet but nothing seems to cover Maya shatter, as we were told that it has been untouched since Maya version 1.

Day 12


After separating the geometries the problem still occur, so I applied the texture after the shatter. But it would be tedious, if i had selected each faces one by one. So i group the the geometry before it shattered by quick selected sets and when its at the frame where it shatters I selected the set i just made and reapply the textures on them. and also further tweak the barrier texture.

Day 11


Today i textured the barrier. Redid the bricks. And also figured how to apply texture to the shattered pieces. Apparently when the geometry was a whole my bricks uv and wall uv textures would go blank when the building begins to shatter. So then we separated the 3  the geometries for the scene.











Day 10

I was told by Mr Sridhar that the MIA material used for the scene could not render out passes, so I convert everything to the MIA material passes. I changed the wall and brick texture materials to blinn and also started on the construction barrier texture.

Day9


We were told that the windows of the building looks incorrect and so i changed the UV and redid the the texture. When i added bump map to the building the bump will also be seen behind the glass of the windows so i tried the deleting the texture where the windows were placed but i did not work out correctly, and so I add a plane behind the glass so to cover the bump of the building behind the glass.




Day 8


Final tweaking of the textures and also i changed the texture for the wall. And cut out the the texture where the windows are positioned so that the textures will not be seen behind the window.

and this for the bump map.

Day 7


I created snapshot the UV of the building and brought it to photoshop to edit. And also added the material to the rest of the geometry.
















Day 6


shooting day 2! Since the videos on day 5 were blur we reshoot it again.

Day4


I started on my texture for the building. I create the brick texture in photoshop.

Noise added
Noise were added to the cement, but random noise to the bricks.

Day3


We went for our shoot at Padang.

When we came back to class and made the previs.

Day 2


on day 2 we decided to go ahead with idea 2, the regretful man idea. I did the storyboard for the story with camera angle advise from Edmund.
After having the plan shots ready we roughly know what we could do. As a texturer, I was assigned to design the signboard for scene 2.

Day 1


we thought of various ideas for the project.
1*Lego idea - 3 characters, 2 wearing earmuffs. While working the one not wearing the earmuffs was too annoyed that his head pops out. One of the went to help and bend his body in an awkward position that his upper body pops off.

2*regretful man idea - 3 workers went to a demolition site. one of them din't put on earmuffs. later to his regret, he went deaf.

 3*stressed man idea - camera revolving around the character with the background of noises stressing him out, till he finally puts on the ear muffs.
